Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Oxford, Queen Street area
Prohibition of Motor Vehicles
Date of Order: 24 August 2020
Works commence: 21 September 2020
This Order was introduced because of resurfacing work which was anticipated to be completed 2 October 2020. The dates have been changed for the works to begin on 21 September until 16 October. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit motor vehicles proceeding towards Queen Street from Castle Street through Bonn Square to New Inn Hall Street. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Castle Street, Norfolk Street, Speedwell Street and St Aldates. The relevant parts of the Oxfordshire County Council (City of Oxford) (Central Area) (Traffic Management) (Consolidation) Order 2003 (as amended) will be temporarily suspended to allow permitted vehicles to enter Queen Street from Carfax. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref.T7991/AC)
