THE opening of Oxford Parkway happened with much razzmatazz and it’s great to see such investment in our railways.

However, it seems unfair that the opening of this new line is to the detriment of many existing commuters in Bicester. The new timetable from Bicester North to London Marylebone is a considerable step back. The number of peak-time trains has reduced and journey times have increased.

My commute has been increased by 70 mins per Monday-Friday week, due to these changes; the worst being the scrapping of the 17.18 Marylebone to Bicester North service.

Yes, Bicester commuters can choose to use the new Bicester Town (sorry, “Village”) station instead, but that’s not within walking distance of home for many of us. I would urge Chiltern Railways to reconsider its new timetable and not treat its loyal customers with such disregard.
