SIR, I read with interest the recent article written by Sam McGregor under the heading “Warning over danger road”.
Having been a resident in Langford Village for over 15 years, I am sure the 13 recorded accidents at the junction of Peregrine Way (not road) and Wretchwick Way is only the tip of the iceberg. I have witnessed many minor bumps and scrapes at this junction and countless near misses that could have had a serious outcome.
As a resident of Merganser Drive, I do not even attempt to turn right out of Peregrine on to Wretchwick during peak periods. I instead drive on to Wretchwick, via the roundabout at the other end of Peregrine. This means I drive past Langford Village School instead.
The obvious solution to me at least is to install a roundabout. I have a map of Bicester from about 1995, which clearly shows a roundabout at each end of Peregrine Way.
I have always wondered at the sense of not building it in the first place. Maybe someone has an answer as to why a roundabout was not built at the same time as the ones at the other end of Peregrine and Gavray Drive.
Mr F Speight, Merganser Drive, Bicester
