Sir, I am 88 years of age and suffered major heart surgery followed by angioplasty. This was under the care of the Brompton Hospital Trust at Chelsea.
Recently I collapsed and it was impossible for me to stand up. I managed to call the paramedics and within minutes two paramedics arrived. I was given a thorough examination and the paramedics decided that hospital treatment was quickly required.
I was taken to Oxford hospital, and after waiting in the queue, I was seen by a cardiologist. Within a very short time, I had a pacemaker installed. This has changed my life.
I have already praised the hospital and cardiologists, but my lifesavers, without any doubt whatsoever, are the paramedics. They applied their diagnosis as professionally as could possibly be, and delivered me to the Oxford cardiologists.
The NHS – wonderful!
