THIS week we introduce Karen Curtin, Cherwell’s new Bicester director.

She says she has a track record of getting things done and we look forward to seeing what improvements she will help to make in the town.

At Monday’s meeting, councillors welcomed Miss Curtin and also gave her a list of the priorities they want to see for Bicester.

Miss Curtin’s role was created to oversee the many projects taking place in the town, which all add up to massive expansion.

So, along with her title, comes a difficult balancing task.

She says she will champion Bicester and ensure it’s a place we all want to continue to “live, work and play in”.

Her role will be a busy one. She will be dealing with developers, business people, the eco-town, Cherwell’s self-build project and much more.

But another part of Miss Curtin’s job will be to look at what improvements residents want and how she can make them happen.

We all know areas across the town that need improving — sports facilities and play areas quickly spring to mind.

So, we would urge people to get in touch with her and set out what they would like to see improved across the town.

Miss Curtin brings a wealth of experience to the job, having worked in both the public and private sectors, as well as managing large projects, and we hope Bicester will reap the benefits of her experience.

We wish the new “Miss Bicester” every success in her role.
