RUGBY UNION: Mills grins and bears it
LONDON Welsh captain Jonathan Mills is prepared to sacrifice more teeth, if it helps them stay in the Aviva Premiership.
Lock Mills lost two teeth (one artificial) and his gum shield following an accidental clash of heads with teammate Alfie To’oala during the first half of the Exiles’ 25-24 victory over the Exeter Chiefs at the Kassam Stadium on Sunday.
He returned after a trip to the blood bin to lead Welsh to victory on his 146th appearance for the club.
“I don’t mind giving one for every win we get this season,” said Mills.
“It was quite funny how people had already written us off after our first two games, but we were playing two of the best sides in the league.
“Exeter are a quality side in their own right, but to be able to get a win at home at the Kassam was an amazing feeling for the boys.
“We’re on the way now and hopefully we can keep moving forward.”
- OPENSIDE flanker Michael Hills replaces the injured Mike Denbee as London Welsh’s only change for tonight’s match at Sale.
Denbee limped off with an ankle problem during the 25-24 victory over Exeter.
On the bench, Dan Williamson replaces Alfie To’oala, who picked up a knock in training, while scrum half cover is provided by Nick Runciman, who replaces Jonah Holmes.
Hooker Neil Briggs and Hills are both former Sharks.
Sale bring in Welsh international Andy Powell and Mark Easter to their back row, while former England man Danny Cipriani continues at fly half.
