RUGBY UNION: Chadbone quits as Quins manager
STEVE Chadbone has stepped down as Oxford Harlequins manager.
The former Quins wing and brother of captain Simon Chadbone took up the manager’s post least season.
But he announced yesterday that he was quitting the National 3 South West club.
Chadbone said: “I have stepped down as manager because of work commitments.”
Quins have had a nightmare start to the season, shipping 118 points in two defeats, but will hope to turn things round when they host Chippenham on Saturday.
- CHINNOR’S strength in depth should give them a far better chance of staying up in National 2 South this time.
Having been relegated in each of their two previous seasons at this level, they are optimistic about avoiding an unwanted hat-trick.
And that was certainly illustrated by Chinnor 2nd’s 90-10 home demolition of Thurrock 2nd in their opening Zoo Shield Division 2 North fixture.
With Chinnor’s first team having a week off, their seconds shone, scoring 14 tries.
Adam Hastings, Huw Morgan, Trevor Powell, Leo Fielding, Tristan Corpe and Sam Angell each bagged two tries, with Neil Davies and Evan Sawyer also crossing over.
Angell kicked seven conversions and Will Millett three.
Chinnor visit Bournemouth in National 2 South on Saturday where they can compare themselves with opponents who pipped them to the National 3 South West title last season.
- OXFORD Harlequins Under 16s are looking to recruit new players of all abilities.
The team train at Marston Ferry Road from 7-8.30pm on Thursdays and 10am-12noon on Sundays.
