SOPHIE Trott admits she has been dreaming about helping Oxford University defend their crown against Cambridge University for weeks.

The 21-year-old starts at full back in today’s 31st Women’s Varsity Match at Twickenham (11.30).

Trott will win a third Blue but despite her experience, she revealed the big match nerves still play their part.

“I’ve had dreams about it for a long time,” said the Wadham College student, who is studying chemistry.

“I told some of the new girls about two weeks before you will get Varsity dreams.

“They never really finish and you don’t know what’s going on.

“I’m not scoring the winning try – that would be day-dreaming.”

The Dark Blues lead the head-to-head 19-11.

A brilliant defensive display saw Oxford triumph 3-0 last year – avenging a 52-0 defeat in 2015.

Trott admits the squad, which includes eight Blues, still use the performance as inspiration.

She said: “We always take heart from that defensive effort.

“But we’ve been looking to improve our attacking skills too.”

“We’ve got a lot of pace this year, hopefully we can use that.”
