IT was a family affair for the Chadbones on Saturday when four brothers turned out for Wheatley.

Andrew, Matthew, Stephen and Simon, all involved with the club, were joined by Stephen’s son Archie van Dijk to make it a memorable occasion for father Robert, who braved the conditions to watch the action along with Matthew’s son, Oliver.

Andrew, Matthew, Stephen and Archie – a member of Oxford Harlequins who was able to play having no match for his regular side – turned out for Wheatley 2nd in their 17-10 defeat at home to Banbury 4th in BB&O Division 4 North.

Simon played for Wheatley’s 1st XV in their 24-10 win over Chipping Norton in the BB&O Championship.

“I would have loved to played with the others, but front row requirements meant I needed to be in the first team,” Simon said.

“Both games were at home, but the kick-off times were staggered meaning my dad (Robert) could watch most of both matches.

“It was great for us all to be involved – I am not sure if it will happen again.”
