BICESTER paid the penalty for indiscipline as they were knocked off the top of South West 1 East at Marlow.

The hosts won 19-8 to become the new leaders as Bicester rued conceding 13 penalties.

Bicester looked to be on course for victory at half-time, turning round with an 8-3 lead.

But Marlow fly-half Matthew Labron punished the visitors by slotting over three penalties after the break.

And after Bicester flanker Matt Dye was sin-binned, Labron converted the home team’s only try, scored by No 8 Dominic Crayden.

Bicester took an early lead with a penalty goal from Tom Miles and increased it when flanker Ryan Biscoe put No 8 Francois Weise over in the right corner.

Just before the break, Labron banged over a penalty for Marlow, who proceeded to dominate the second half.

Gosford All Blacks gave a spirited display before losing 20-12 at home to Buckingham.

After the hosts went ahead with a try from Pat Okendon, converted by Ed Kinman, Gosford levelled matters when Ben Bodinham off-loaded for Thom Murton to dive over under the posts. Tim Ellis converted.

Kinman kicked a penalty for a 10-7 half-time lead and then converted another Okendon try.

The home side, well led by skipper Dan Bullimore, were finally rewarded as scrum half Joe Ballinger dived over to score an unconverted try.

But another penalty from Kinman denied them the bonus. Wallingford edged past Thatcham 7-3.
