CHINNOR have replaced their second team with a development squad for the 2016-17 season.

In a move to bring a greater number of youngsters through to the first XV, Chinnor Falcons will be managed by Hwyel Evans, who was second team manager.

Dave McKee, who has previously featured for the first team, will take on a player/coach role.

The squad will consist of a combination of existing 1st and 2nd XV squad members, university players as well as former and current colts.

Director of rugby Matt Williams said: “It is vital we get a clear and defined pathway for lads to progress from Chinnor and Oxfordshire youth into our 1st XV.

“If boys are good enough, age is most certainly not a barrier with me.

“We have a duty not just for Chinnor but for the youth of Oxfordshire to give them a pathway to reach the level of rugby they are capable of and have the dedication for.”

Four under 20 games will also be organised on Wednesday evenings throughout the season.

Williams added: “This is a great opportunity to keep lads in contact with the club who have gone to university or work far afield.”

RICH Tattersall has been selected as Littlemore’s first XV captain for next season.

The Cheney School teacher also received the BB&O Championship club’s player-of-the-year award.

Terry Wilson was named the most improved player, while Jamie Kirkaldy and Jason Chambers were the coaches’ players of the year.

Kelly Gillett picked up the clubman award, before special accolades were given to Darren Massey, Andy Smith and Paul Goodenough for reaching 500 first-team appearances.

PETER Tarrega has been named Bicester’s player of the year.

Meanwhile, Tom Miles picked up the captain’s player-of-the-year trophy, and Will Anns the most improved player. Ryan Gallagher scooped the coach’s player of the year.
