A YOUTHFUL Henley Hawks side lost 39-27 at Dry Leas to all but confirm relegation.

Five players from their second string, the Bulls, stepped up to the squad, but one of those, Tom Bartlett, was forced off late on with a broken arm.

Caolan Ryan kicked Coventry into the lead in the National League 1 clash, but two Ben Palmer penalties put Hawks 6-3 in front.

Matt Jones’s try, converted by Ryan, restored the visitors’ advantage and it was 22-6 thanks to Ryan Hough and Rob Knox scores.

Hawks responded with Simon Perry and Connor Morrison tries, both converted by Palmer, to make it 22-20.

But Ryan Hough and George Oliver crossed, Ryan added the extras once, for Coventry.

Henley’s Morrison drove over, Palmer converting, but Peter Weightman’s score sealed victory for the visitors.

Chinnor overcame a late rally from Old Elthamians to win 39-31 at home in National League 2 South.

Sam Angell converted his own try early on for the hosts.

Olly Vidgeon responded, but Chinnor raced into a 31-7 lead, thanks to tries from Oscar Heath (2), Johnathan Phipps and Junior Fatialofa.

Angell converted twice.

Elthamians responded through Neil Dewale’s try.

Henry Lamont crossed for Chinnor on 42 minutes, but the visitors reduced the lead to 36-26 through Craig Dowsett’s score and a penalty try.

Angell kicked a penalty for Chinnor.

However, the visitors had the last say when Matt Bressons dived over.
