GOSFORD All Blacks and Didcot both missed out on silverware after losing in their respective Vase finals.

Gosford were beaten 12-7 at Milton Keynes in the Senior Vase, while Didcot went down 15-3 at home to Pewsey Vale in the Junior Vase.

All Blacks, playing into a strong wind, were soon pegged back and trailed to Daniel Rolfe’s fifth-minute try, which was converted by Brian Purcell.

After missing a number of chances to get on the scoresheet, they found themselves 12-0 behind when centre Andy Poole touched down for an unconverted try.

The hosts tried to slow the game down in the latter stages, and when they were reduced to 14 men, Gosford took advantage with Harry Sutton converting his own try.

But they were unable to find another score.

In the Junior Vase final Didcot lost 15-3 at home to Pewsey Vale.

Strong winds and a heavy ground made it a forward battle and Vale’s pack powered over for two first-half tries.

Didcot's sole reply came from a penalty by fly half Josh Witts.

Meanwhile, depleted Alchester lost 15-5 at Chesham in their rearranged Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier clash.

Jack Briggs scored their only try, following some neat ball control.

Banbury lost 11-5 at home to Kidderminster Carolians in the quarter-finals of the Midlands Intermediate Cup.

Sean Bannister scored their only points with a second-half try.

l IN the only Oxfordshire Cup match played, Henley Bulls won 21-10 away to Grove.
