FOURTEEN-MAN Bicester conceded a try in the last play of the game as they were held to a dramatic 29-29 draw by Wallingford.

Bicester were a man short after half an hour of the Southern Counties North clash when No 8 Dan Spencer was red-carded for a retaliatory punch on Wallingford’s Gavin Harmer following a high tackle.

Harmer was shown a yellow card.

At the time, Wallingford were leading 17-10.

Bicester had led 10-3 thanks to an early forwards try from skipper Matt Dye, converted by Tom Miles, who also added a penalty.

Phil Dawes kicked a three-pointer for the visitors.

Wallingford scored tries through Tom Swainston and centre Ralph Smith, with Dawes adding two conversions.

Bicester drew level when fly half Dave Hampton darted over for a try, which was converted by Miles.

In a scrappy second half, Bicester landed two penalties to go 23-17 ahead.

But Wallingford replied with a converted try from Finn Sayce.

Two more penalties from the boot of Miles gave Bicester a five-point lead.

They looked like hanging on, but after the sin-binning of flanker Ryan Biscoe, McKinley scored in the corner, the conversion falling short.

Alchester were beaten 8-5 by Chipping Norton in a gritty Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier encounter.

The hosts scored an unconverted try from a breakaway after Alchester had been pressing inside their 22.

And the visitors continued to dominate the territory in the second half, eventually scoring through flanker Harry Hobbs after stubborn forward play.

But with ten minutes remaining, Chippy secured the victory with a penalty.
