MIDLANDS 2 WEST SOUTH
BANBURY Bulls beat Stourbridge Lions 34-19 at Bodicote Park to finish just a point behind champions Earlsdon.
Having secured a play-off spot last week, Bulls were far from fluent, but maintained momentum ahead of their promotion play-off at Midlands 2 West North runners-up Crewe and Nantwich on Saturday, April 26.
Banbury led with a try from hooker Brett Richmond, converted by scrum half Eddie Phillips.
Tries from locks Jacob Mills and Nick Pratt, plus a Phillips conversion, made it 19-0.
Phillips slotted a penalty after the break, but Lions hit back with a try.
Fly half Dan Tooth’s breakaway try was matched by a Stourbridge converted score.
Flanker Chris Phillips bagged Bulls’ final try, his brother Eddie converting.
But Stourbridge had the final say with a converted try.
