FULL back Will Hilton notched a personal tally of 17 points as Oxford Harlequins thrashed lowly Buckingham 52-13 in South West 1 East at home on Saturday.

The victory, Quins’ 17th in 18 matches, saw them pass the 700 points mark for the season.

It was Buckingham who took the lead in the tenth minute, full back James Hulston slotting a penalty.

Quins were not behind for long and struck back in the 16th minute.

Following a break by centre Keni Fisilau, left wing Jack Robinson sped over for a fine try which Hilton converted from the touchline.

A loose pass in the home 22 saw Buckingham fly half Sam Clapham intercept and go over for a try to put his side 8-7 up, but once again, Quins were not behind for long.

Some good inter-play between forwards and backs sent No 8 Jackson Achilles powering over for a try, Hilton adding the extras.

More Quins pressure was rewarded in the 30th minute when Robinson appeared on the right wing to take a scoring pass and go over for a 19-8 lead. And four minutes later, the same player scorched down the touchline to complete his hat-trick.

Hilton’s touchline conversion made it 26-8 at the break.

It was more of the same in the second half as Quins maintained their momentum.

A catch and drive on the Buckingham 22 saw lock Ed Tickle drive over for a try which Hilton converted, and Buckingham’s cause was not helped when centre Ollie Payne was yellow- carded.

A bout of recycling and quick hands saw right wing Spencer Coggins race over for a try, Hilton’s conversion making the score 40-8.

Five minutes later, Hilton went over after a jinking run and then Achilles notched his second try after a powerful run. Hilton converted.

Buckingham’s right wing Theo Metthimer and Quins’ Robinson were yellow-carded late in the game and it was the visitors who had the last word when left wing Calum Gillie squeezed over in the corner.
