London Welsh scrum half Tyson Keats’s registration is the subject of an RFU hearing, but the Exiles are still waiting for the result
LONDON Welsh were kept waiting for a second day to learn the verdict of the RFU hearing into charges that they fielded an ineligible player.
The hearing into the case of scrum half Tyson Keats took place on Tuesday, but the panel of Jeremy Summers (chairman), Mark McCafferty and Peter Budge had still not announced their decision last night.
The Exiles now expect to learn the verdict today.
Welsh were charged with fielding New Zealander Keats ineligibly in “a number” of Aviva Premiership matches this season, believed to be nine.
The case is said to revolve around which category the Exiles initially used to register Keats when he made his debut in September.
If found guilty, Welsh, who play at Oxford’s Kassam Stadium, face a points deduction that could see them effectively relegated from the Aviva Premiership.
