THE average age of Oxford United’s travelling support will be lower than normal tomorrow.

United have selected the visit to Walsall as their designated family away day.

A big hit two years ago when the U’s won 5-1 at Stevenage, last season’s event had to be cancelled after the chosen fixture was postponed due to the club’s FA Cup commitments.

But it is back this weekend, offering under 15s free coach travel to the Bescot Stadium, while parents of children in the #Ox4Life scheme can travel for half-price.

Special guests are also due to be on board.

Kath Faulkner, the club’s supporter liaison officer, said: “One of the big things is it’s a collaborative effort.

“The Yellow Army brought the idea to us again and are helping with the set-up, while OxVox are paying for the coach.

“Liontrust are providing goody bags and Alchemy have produced a special four-page programme.

“It’s about making away days fun and affordable for families who might not normally travel.

“We always have a great travelling support and this is a way of getting the full range of the fanbase on the road.”

Places on the bus can still be arranged before 3pm today. Call 01865 337533 for more details.
