The main decision for Oxford United boss Michael Appleton against Wimbledon is how to fill Callum O’Dowda’s place on the left flank.

The winger scored his first international goal when he put Republic of Ireland Under 21s ahead in the 27th minute of their 3-0 victory against Lithuania in Euro 2017 qualifying last night.

One option, Danny Rose, is still struggling with a hip injury.

Appleton is likely to have to choose between starting Alex MacDonald, or switching Kemar Roofe to a wide role and bringing in Danny Hylton, who is back from a ban The U’s head coach said: “That’s the million dollar question, isn’t it?"

“It gives us loads of options and all we need to do is recognise what Wimbledon’s centre halves’ strengths and weaknesses are and make a decision.”He added: “Danny’s certainly going to be fresh.

“He will have a week under his belt in terms of preparation so he definitely comes into the reckoning.”

There are no concerns over goalkeeper Sam Slocombe, who sat out the midweek derby with a dead leg.

Dons’ strikers Adebayo Akinfenwa and Tom Elliott have recovered from hamstring and knee problems respectively, while Jon Meades, one of three ex-U’s in the squad with Sean Rigg and Dannie Bulman, is in the frame after sitting out training earlier this week.
