Danny Hylton is confident he can get back on the Oxford United goal trail if chances come his way this afternoon after a wasteful display last weekend.

The 25-year-old has notched seven times this season, but could not take several good opportunities in the 0-0 draw against Stevenage.

Hylton admits it took a couple of days to move on from the misses, but is sure they will not be a factor at Luton.

He said: “I didn’t sleep well on Saturday, I just kept playing every chance back.

“But when you hit the back of the net a few times in training you forget about it.

“It’s finished. I’m confident if I get those chances again I will take one or two.”

The game is the first meeting of the clubs for five seasons, when they were rivals in the Conference.

A lively atmosphere is expected at Kenilworth Road with United set to take just under 1,000 supporters.

Head coach Michael Appleton is predicting a fast and furious opening.

He said: “I’m told there’s a bit of needle in the game, which will make it more interesting.

“We’re going to have to earn the right to play. We’ll have to be brave and make big decisions on the ball, which I’m sure we will do.”

With no injury concerns, United could field the same XI for the third successive game.

Although Ryan Clarke and Andy Whing played for the development squad in midweek, neither is expected to be ready for first-team action.

Luton boss John Still has midfielder Jonathan Smith back, but has doubts over no fewer than eight senior players.
