LONDON Paralympic gold medallist and discus world record holder Josie Pearson will present prizes and share her experience of the Games during an event in Cleobury Mortimer next month.

She will attend the annual Adam Millichip Memorial Golf Challenge presentation evening at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club on Friday, May 10. The Hay-on-Wye based athlete will also take part in a short question and answer session on the night, which gets under way at 7.30pm The Adam Millichip Foundation, which provides financial support to disabled people who want to participate in sports, has so far granted over £20,000 to disabled people.

Spokesman and trustee for the charity, Mark Benbow, said: "We are very proud to have such an inspirational local hero attending our presentation night. Josie is a role model for many of our beneficiaries and they hope to emulate what she has achieved so far.

“We want to support more local people looking to get into a sport which improves their quality of life and with Josie's help this will, hopefully, happen."

The golf day, now in its fourth year, is sold out but anyone who wants to attend the presentation evening is welcome to attend.
