MILLIE Couzens rounded off a brilliant season by landing the under 16 National Cyclo-Cross Championship – at the age of 14.

The Bicester schoolgirl beat her rivals over a muddy course in Sunderland, which involved hurdles, hills and bridges.

Couzens, riding for the PH-MAS/Paul Milnes/Oldfield ER team, won in an exciting finish which saw four riders enter the final lap together.

But a strong sprint saw her over the line in first place.

This tops off an amazing season, which also saw her win the National Trophy series consisting of six races held at different venues across the country.

This was in addition to her success in winning the National Mountain Bike title last summer.

She also represented the central region, who won silver medals in both the National School Games and mountain bike championship.

Couzens, who attends The Bicester School, has been competing in national races for the last two years.

This requires amazing commitment in terms of training four times a week as well as competing, and travelling to races across the length an breadth of Britain.

However, in order to fulfil her desire to compete in Europe next year and purchase new equipment to enable her to defend her titles and develop her track racing which she has taken up this year, she is in need of additional financial support.
