BICESTER Ladies made a winning start to their Trysports Three Counties League campaign with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Maidenhead 3rd in Division 1.

After a nervous start, Bicester took the lead in the 20th minute when Alison Haik saw her shot saved after a mazy run, but Nicolene Willers reacted first to sweep home the rebound.

The midfield of Abbie Stevens and Faye Bennett pressed forward as Bicester gained the upper hand.

In the second half, Maidenhead were denied an equaliser by some stout defending from Samantha Horle and Joanna Underhill.

Bicester sealed the result when Haik opened her league account with a well-placed shot into the corner

l Bicester Under 10s enjoyed a successful junior festival at Witney, winning all four games without conceding a goal to become the overall victors.

There were two goals each from Kye Cosby, James Lyon, Harry Tynan and Thomas Sames, while goalkeeper Ben Watton made some terrific saves.
