BICESTER ABC light-heavyweight fighter Adi Burden maintained his unbeaten record with a unanimous points victory over Manchester’s Curtis Gargano at the York Hall, Bethnal Green.
Burden, who tipped the scales at 12st 6lb – five pounds lighter than his experienced opponent – had won his three previous contests at the famous east London venue.
Buoyed by this, he produced a decent hook and cross combination during the first round of four.
In the second round, Burden landed some heavy hooks to Gargano’s body, while a right uppercut snapped back his opponent’s head in the third as the crowd roared the combatants on.
In the final round, a left-hook followed by a barrage of punches had Gargano again retreating to the ropes and the Bicester fighter finished confident of victory.
This was confirmed by the judges who scored 40-36, meaning that Burden had won every round.
He said “I am so pleased to keep my unbeaten record intact. I had a massive following tonight and the pressure was really on.”
Bicester’s head coach Daza Usher added: “I feel Adi is improving with every contest.”
