Bicester's Reece Chamdal
REECE Chamdal won the consolation singles event at the Swedish Youth Open in Orebro.
The 14-year-old Bicester player won only one of his three group matches and missed the final stages of the cadet boys’ singles.
But he reigned supreme in the consolation event, defeating Salem Alsuwailem, of Saudi Arabia, 3-1, Lode Hulshof (Netherlands) 3-1, Singapore’s Nicholas Chong 3-0 and another Dutch player, Gabrielius Camara, 3-0 to reach the final.
And there he beat Emil Friis Hansen, of Denmark, 10-12, 11-2, 12-10, 11-6 to take the gold medal.
