SEVEN members of Bicester Riding Club are on a high after winning a national title.
The squad – called Bicester Bonkers Birds – saw off 24 rivals to claim the Team Quest crown after a superb display at Bury Farm, in Leighton Buzzard.
Liz Turner, Kirsty Withnall, Caroline Pritchard-Law, Alison O’Connor and Emma Turner, all of whom live in the town, teamed up with Oxford-based Diane Hilsdon and Lesley Long to take glory.
“To say we are all delighted is an understatement,” said Long.
In each round teams of three or four had to ride as individuals across three test levels, with the best three scores counting towards an overall total.
The top 15 in each area went on to the regional finals, where the Bicester team came out on top after a commanding display.
That saw them through to the national finals, where the quartet of Liz Turner (aboard Poker Face), Long (Sid), Pritchard-Law (Ginge) and Emma Turner (Chico) again proved a class above their rivals to claim a notable victory for a small club.
