Rampant Bicester made it 17 goals in two home games with a dominating 9-2 victory over struggling Thame to maintain their place in the top four of South League MBBO Division 1.

Following their 8-0 trouncing of West Hampstead 3rd a fortnight ago, Bicester went one better this time with two goals apiece from Jonny Reid, Callum White, Ben Kirk and Dave Sutcliffe.

Bicester were soon ahead when Reid scored a rebound from a short corner.

Thame equalised and it remained level until the 20-minute mark.

Then in an amazing burst, the hosts scored five goals in the 15 minutes before half-time.

Sutcliffe started the goal glut after a strong cross from White, and Kirk got his name on the scoresheet after some good interplay.

White fired in a reverse-stick shot into the bottom corner, past the stationary Thame keeper, to make it 4-1.

Reid got his second of the game from Kirk’s brilliant square ball, before Kirk himself got the sixth from a ridiculously acute angle.

Thame rallied after the break, but White still netted his second for 7-1.

Thame got a goal back, but Bicester finished well with Jeff Elliott scoring a lovely deflection from Kirk’s precise cross and Sutcliffe finished off the game with his second.

An emphatic victory for Bicester in their final game before a tough run of matches which begins with a trip to table-toppers Amersham and Chalfont next week.

Other men’s scores: Sonning 4th 2, Bicester 2nd 4 (L Smith 2, W Hartley 2); Oxford 9th 3, Bicester 4th 4 (S McKenna 2, J Mutton, C Birch).

BICESTER ladies drew 1-1 with Bracknell in the Premier Division of the Trysports Three Counties League on Saturday.

They scored first thanks to Alison Haik mid-way through the first half, only to see their lead cancelled out just before half time.

In the second half, Bicester did everything but score.

And they had to settle for a point, which did nothing to improve their survival hopes.
