BICESTER staged a stunning comeback from 3-0 down with 20 minutes to go to win 4-3 at home to Sonning 2nd in Middlesex Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1.

At the break, Sonning led 2-0 following two good finishes low into the corner of Nathan Elliot’s goal.

After a half-time rollicking, Bicester came out with far more purpose and verve yet still managed to concede again from a Sonning counter-attack.

Bicester’s pressure did eventually lead to what all felt would be a consolation goal, as Ben Kirk bullied his way past the defender and smashed the ball past Sonning’s keeper to make it 3-1.

With the momentum behind them, Bicester kept attacking, and they kept winning short corners.

Callum White scored to get it back to 3-2 and then Andy Brown’s drilled shot deflected off a Sonning stick and looped in from another short corner to make the scores level.

With two minutes left, both teams had chances to win the game.

It was Bicester, though, who scored again as another short corner was won and converted by Callum White.

The victory sends Bicester above Sonning and into fifth in the table, with this remarkable fightback maintaining the team’s unbeaten record in 2016.

Other men’s results: Milton Keynes 4th 4, Bicester 3rd 0.
