BICESTER'S Alex Vukoman was the star of the show at Bicester Boxing Club's annual boxing event in front of a sell-out crowd.

The host club came away with an impressive array of victories.

And Vukoman, who was matched against the dangerous Chris Smith, from Pegasus, in a super-heavyweight contest, was involved in a thriller.

Smith was coming off an impressive victory against his previous opponent so was in confident mood, while Vukoman was returning from a lengthy lay-off following a shoulder operation.

Although Smith was often the busier of the two, throwing fast combinations, the Bicester boxer landed the heavier, more eye-catching blows, and Vukoman did just enough to earn a 29-28 points win.

Bicester BC's 14-year-old Frazer Kernan finished his contest strongly against Oxford's Sam Stevens, with a fast double right hand that staggered his opponent, and was awarded a 30-27 victory on the scorecards.

The Bicester duo of Lewis Brown and Henry Allen also scored fine wins under the Bicester BC banner.

Brown stopped his opponent, Thomas Darby, in the second round for an impressive debut.

Brown decked his opponent with a vicious left hook.

Allen impressed in his win against Billy Dixon, throwing clusters of punches from behind the jab. Allen took every round on the scorecards.
