BICESTER made it three wins out of four to move up to third in the table with a battling 3-2 win at home to Ashford.

The visitors took the lead in the Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1 encounter after ten minutes.

But Bicester kept their cool and just before half-time they levelled through Andy Brown, who tidied up from his own short corner strike to bundle the ball past the keeper.

Bicester came out positively after the break.

And within minutes they had the lead through Ben Kirk, who sneaked the ball in following good link-up play between Jonny Reid and Will Hartley.

Ashford equalised with 15 minutes to play, but quick thinking from Andy Brown then set up a winner.

Reid received the ball after a quick long corner from Brown and drove into the D, smashing the ball just above the backboard past the Ashford keeper to give the home side all three points.

They are three points behind leaders Amersham & Chalfont after four games.

Bicester 2nd slumped to their third defeat of the season in going down 3-0 at mid-table Henley 3rd in Division 4.

But in Division 6, Bicester 3rd were on fire at set pieces, scoring four goals from short corners as they convincingly won 7-0 at Bourton & Sherborne 2nd - their first win of the campaign.

Nick Styles hit a hat-trick, and other goals came from CJ Birtles (2), Chris Bloxham and Ollie Hartley.

Lilla Venning hit four goals as Bicester Ladies 2nd recovered from a hard game the previous week, cruising to a 10-1 win against Abingdon Pilgrims in Trysports 3 Counties League Premier 1.

Faye Walters, Jan Southam, Amy Olah, Bea Gunn, Rachael Hucker and Shannon Cameron were also on the scoresheet.
