Bicester AC’s Molly Acton claimed victory in the 800m at the Oxfordshire County Schools’ Championships at Abingdon’s Tilsley Park on Sunday.

Under 15 runner Acton won the middle distance event ahead of Radley AC’s Sasha Palfreyman in 2mins 35.7secs.

Jess Cherry struck gold twice in claiming the under 20s triple jump with a leap of 9.71m, before winning the shot.

Her throw of 10.39m was a personal best and propelled her to 32nd in the under 20 national rankings.

Holly Griffiths-Brown enjoyed a successful day by winning two silvers.

A personal best effort of 4.72m saw her finish behind Radley’s Petrina Chantler-Edmond in the long jump.

The 13-year-old was 0.2secs off her pb in completing the 200m in 27.8secs and coming home in second place.

Ben West claimed third in the under 15 boys’ 1500 metres in a pb of 4mins 44.2secs.

Yolanda Martin, who leapt to a season’s best of 4.51m in the under 17 girls’s long jump, and Rushani Arumugham, who posted a pb of 4.02m in the under 13 event, also came third in their age groups.
