Twyford trainer Tim Jarvis ended his long wait for a first winner this year when Lady Gibraltar scored at Goodwood on Sunday.
Jarvis had endured a series of near misses with three seconds in the previous four days.
But Lady Gibraltar put him back in the winner’s enclosure for the first time since last October when getting up under Richard Hughes in a thrilling finish to a five-furlong veterans’ stakes.
Short-heads separated the first four home, with the six-year-old mare holding off Fairway To Heaven by a whisker.
Jarvis revealed afterwards Lady Gibraltar is in foal to Australian Group 1-winning sprinter Foxwedge.
