Bicester BC duo Sammy Ait-Tales and Harley Pullen celebrated unanimous points wins in a boxing show in Cheltenham on Saturday.
Ait-Tales saw off Northampton BC’s Connor Wall in a light middleweight class, while Pullen, 16, got the better of Thomas May (Weston Boxing Academy).
Ait-Tales worked neatly behind his jab, before letting his powerful left cross go.
Wall was left staggered after Ait-Tales caught him with a good clean punch with seconds to go in the first round.
By the end of the second round Ait-Tales was pushing his opponent backwards and landing clusters of punches to both body and head.
Wall was now bleeding from the nose and visibly shaken up by a right uppercut.
Ait-Tales used his jab effectively in the final round, picking off Wall with neat combinations before he took the fight 30-27 on the judges scorecards.
“I knew this was going to be a tough contest but I prepared well and did everything I was asked to by my coaching team,”
said Ait-Tales.
“I was keen to pick up a victory here and I’m pleased with how I performed. I will be straight back to the gym now to improve.”
Pullen’s clash proved a close affair that saw both boxers have success, with the apprentice builder winning the fight 29-28.
