Bicester Blue Fins’ development squad were celebrating after clinching promotion to Division 1 of the Chilterns League.

They did it in style, winning the third and final Division 2 gala in Bletchley to secure their elevation to the league’s top-flight.

Ryan Cattle, 14, led for the boys with a tight victory in the men’s open 100m freestyle.

There was also a good win by 1.5 seconds for Chiara Brown in the 14-year 50m butterfly and Tansy Hammond – competing in the same age group – in the 50m backstroke.

Lauren McKenzie won the 12-year 50m breaststroke, with back-to-back successes in the 14-year freestyle for Emily Wright and Matthew Harris.

Sophie Phillips won the 14 year 50m breaststroke by 3.5 seconds.

Hammond, Phillips, Emily Wright and Brown won both the girls’ age 14 4x50m medley and freestyle disciplines.

Callum Laird, Matthew Nolte, Cattle and Joe Rowland triumphed in the men’s open 4x50m medley.

Noah Powell, Josh Lorimer, Tim Walker and William Gibson-Sexton won the boys’ age ten 4x25m freestyle.

The girls’ age 12 4x25m medley team of Jasmine Barnes, Lauren McKenzie, Rachel Lawrence and Caitlin Laverick clinched a dead-heat victory against Wycombe.

Blue Fins also picked up several speeding tickets.
