Bicester Blue Fins’ Lottie Wynne-Jones won five gold medals at the Oxfordshire & North Buckinghamshire County Championships at Aylesbury’s Aqua Vale pool.

Her 50m butterfly victory in 29.68 seconds was the fastest time in the UK by a girl or boy her age and was also the best county meet time and club age group record.

The 12-year-old also set county best times for the 50m and 200m backstroke.

Kieran Bird, 16, won four gold, a silver and two bronze medals.

He was crowned county champion in the 200m and butterfly, both in county meet times, and the 100m individual medley. Bird was also runner-up in the 200m freestyle.

Oliver Inness, 14, won three gold, a silver and a bronze medals, winning the 100m and 200m butterfly, and 100m backstroke.

Freddie Ashley-Sparks won gold in the 13-yearold 100m butterfly and the 200m butterfly.

William Whitley won gold in the the 50m and 200m breaststroke as did Tom Thornley, 15, on the way to becoming county junior 100m backstroke champion.

The boys’ 16 and under relay team of Thornley, Bird, Josh Rowland and Inness won the 4x100m freestyle.

Callum Laird, 15, won the men’s open 100m backstroke and 100m individual medley as Blue Fins finished second on their Chiltern League debut in Banbury.
