Luke Smith scored a hat-trick as Bicester trounced visiting Wycombe 2nd 6-1 to maintain their promotion bid in South League Middlesex Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1 on Saturday.

CJ Birtles fired home from a short corner to give Bicester an early lead, but Wycombe equalised through their skipper Robbie Leung.

Smith made it 2-1 after good work from Dave Sutcliffe, who then got into the act to make it 3-1 at half-time.

Bicester increased their lead when Jonny Reid’s scuffed shot put them 4-1 in front.

Smith then added his second from a short-corner move, and his third in the final minute came after more smart work from Sutcliffe.

Bicester are now third with two games in hand on leaders British Airways.

Bicester 2nd revived their flagging promotion hopes with a 2-1 victory at Leighton Buzzard in MBBO Division 5.

The dominant visitors went ahead ten minutes before the break when captain Chris Tarrat fastened onto a half clearance before finishing in style.

Three minutes into the second period, the lead was doubled when James Pilgrim’s pass found Will Brass, who drew the keeper before squaring for teenager Will Hartley to stroke home his first Bicester goal.

Although the hosts got one back, Bicester held on.

Bicester 3rd lost their unbeaten home record in Division 7 following a 5-1 home defeat by Tring 2nd.

Poor defending saw Tring take a 2-0 lead in the opening five minutes.

Just before half-time another slip up saw Tring grab a third goal before they made it 4-0 early in the second half.

Although Nick Styles replied, Tring’s fifth goal killed them off.

Bicester 4th lost 5-0 at Newbury & Thatcham in Division 10 West.

Bicester Ladies edged to a 1-0 home win against Oxford University 2nd in Trysports Three Counties League Premier 1.

The only goal of the game came in the first half when Ella West burst down the wing before finding Hannah Newell who fired home.

Oxford tried to get back into the game, but were thwarted by strong Bicester defending.

Bicester 2nd beat Marlow 3rd 2-0 at home in Division 2, thanks to a second-half double from Nicky Cameron.

Bicester 4th lost 4-0 at Thame 3rd in Division 6.
