Tom Thornley was named swimmer of the year at Bicester Blue Fins annual presentation evening at the Ambrosden Officers’ Mess.

The 15-year-old national champion (pictured right) has had an outstanding season capped by qualifying for two finals at the recent Catalonian Open Championships.

Fellow 15-year-old boys champion Kieran Bird was given the head coach’s special award for a super season where he became a national champion, was invited to join the GB talent development programme and attended the 2014 Doha World Swimming Championships as a guest of the world governing body FINA.

Girls’ club captain Ellie Falkner, who on the way to becoming 15-year champion, picked up an impressive ten open trophies was also honoured.

Lottie Wynne-Jones was presented with the 11 year girls champion shield and six other individual age group trophies.

The men’s open category champion Jack Rowland also won three individual awards.

Other multiple award winners were Edward Davis, Tia Falkner, Oliver Inness, Christopher Littleton, Sean Lock and Tabitha Watkins.

Around 200 people attended the event.
