Kieran Bird, 15, picked up two junior titles at Aylesbury’s Aqua Vale pool to add to the 1500m he won in the opening week.

Bird’s time of 4mins 2.54secs in the 400m freestyle was nine seconds faster than anyone else, earning the Bicester Blue Fins star the title of overall county champion and county junior champion.

He was also named junior champion in the 400m individual medley in a new club time of 4mins 39.06 secs, to earn him second place overall.

There was a double gold for Lottie Wynne-Jones, who shot to No 1 in the country in her age group with success in the 12-year-old 400m freestyle in 4mins 41.44secs.

She also won the 400m individual medley in 5mins 24.84secs.

Oliver Inness won back-to-back gold medals in the 14-year-old 400m individual medley in a time of 5.1 secs and the 400m freestyle in 4.28secs.

Despite being seeded eighth in the 11-year-old 400m freestyle, Tia Falkner claimed her first county gold medal in a time of 5mins 43.97secs.

Blue Fins' 11-12-year-old girls’ relay A team of Wynne-Jones, Maddy Powell, Eveena Shah and Alexandra Pluckrose, claimed two silver medals in the 4x50m freestyle and medley.

There were also silvers for 15-year-old Ellie Falkner in the 400m freestyle junior, Tabitha Watkins in the 13-year-old girls’ 400m individual medley and Freddie Ashley-Sparks in the 13-year-old boys’ 400m freestyle.

Maddy Powell won bronze in both 400m events while Josh Rowland and Sinead Vine-Nealon also took third places, taking Blue Fins’ medal haul to 18, which puts them in second place overall.
