Bicester Men made a flying start to their Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1 campaign by romping to a 5-0 success at home to Old Merchant Taylors 2nd.

New captain Jonny Reid opened the scoring and Luke Smith doubled their lead with a simple finish from Dave Sutcliffe’s pass.

Reid tapped in the hosts’ third goal after fine work from Jon Roger and Ian Oak.

And they made it 4-0 on the stroke of half-time as Reid pinched the ball inside his own half before squaring for player-coach Andy Brown to fire home.

The visitors tried to respond in the second half, but Bicester’s defence with CJ Birtles and Dan Round starring, stood form.

Bicester added a fifth goal thanks to Oak’s tidy finish.

Gordon Brass and Ben Kirk grabbed a hat-trick apiece as Bicester 2nd got their Division 5 campaign off to a winning start as they stormed to a 7-0 win at Old Merchant Taylors 3rd.

Adam Drewitt opened the scoring for the visitors after ten minutes and Brass and Kirk also found the net to put Bicester 3-0 up.

The duo added two more goals each in the second half to complete the rout.

Newly-promoted Bicester 3rd also started with a win, beating Maidenhead Magicians 3-2 in Division 7.

Richard Fogden and Nick Styles gave Bicester a 2-0 advantage at half-time.

Pete English added a third goal in the second half after Maiden-head had pulled a goal back.

The away side clawed another back, but Bicester held on.

Bicester Ladies 3rd beat Bicester 4th 2-0 in their Trysports Three Counties League Division 6 derby.
