Ardley United boss Kevin Brock says his side are capable of pulling off another shock when they travel to Chippenham Town on Saturday.

The Uhlsport Hellenic League side saw off Slough 2-1 in the first-qualifying round.

But Brock says a big improvement is needed after they lost 3-0 at home to Ascot in the Premier Division on Tuesday to end a six-match unbeaten run.

The defeat saw Ardley drop to ninth in the table.

“We were lucky to get away with 3-0 to be honest,” said Brock. “They have got some really good players, but we were so poor we made them look better than they were.

“Our results had picked up and then this happens.

“So we’re going to have to be a lot better if we are to win at Chippenham.”

Ardley have injury doubts over Tommy Kinch (hamstring), Troy Bryan (knee), Harry Brock (knee), though Ricky Johnson returns after being unavailable for the Ascot game.

Brock added: “If we can get those four back, we will have a better chance. Ricky’s scored five goals in his last five games and he’s a real threat.

“It would be great day for the club if we can beat them because it’s the furthest the club has been in its history.

“You never know who you can get in the next round when the Conference clubs come in.”

Ascot took the lead on 18 minutes through Jermaine Roche.

The visitors made it 2-0 on 18 minutes when Roche completed his double.

Ardley’s misery was completed in the last minute when Daryl McLean scored No 3.

On Saturday Ardley won 3-2 at Oxford City Nomads.

They went behind after five minutes when debutant Jose Unzueta-Acha headed in.

Ardley had a lucky escape when Callum Convey’s attempted clearance flew just wide.

But they levelled on 12 minutes. Danny Bone robbed George Morris before running and scoring with a neat finish.

However, Unzueta-Acha got his second goal on 21 minutes.

Ardley equalised again on 28 minutes when Luke Ingram’s flick-on allowed Johnson to make it 2-2.

On 77 minutes Ardley scored the winner. Convey’s free-kick found an unmarked Johnson who put away his second goal..

Harding denied Mark Janes and Lewis Gabbidon in injury time, as Ardley held on.
