Alchester enjoyed a prize-laden Waddesdon Manor Summer 5K.

Led home by Richard Gould, who took the vet 40 men’s honours finishing tenth and the Bicester-based club also collected four ladies’ titles.

Gould clocked 17mins 27secs, while Jenny McBain was the second lady home, finishing 26th overall in 19.06.

McBain was only beaten by Sophie Carter (Belgrave Harriers), from Woodstock, who finished in 17.59 for 15th.

Alchester’s Claire Court (21.56) was first vet 35 lady in, while Samantha Usher took the vet 40 honours in 20.15.

Lilla Somogyi (22.29) completed the line up as Alchester were crowned ladies’ team champions.

Meanwhile, McBain edged out clubmate Michelle Pank to take the ladies’ title at the Hornton Classic 6 on Saturday.

McBain finished 22nd in the hilly six-mile race near Banbury, clocking 38mins 55secs, while Pank crossed the line 24th in a time of 39.08.

Usher (40.45) was fourth, helping the club win the ladies’ team prize.

Bicester’s Dave Kuester won two vet 70 golds in Derby.

Kuester was first in the Midlands (British) Masters Throwers Group Heavy Hammer Pentathlon and One-Handed Hammer Championships.

He won the first event with a combined distance of 68.06m and the second in 23.61 – both personal best distances.
