Sophie Wheeler and Tom Gould flew the flag for Bicester in the CAU Inter-counties Cross Country Championships at Cofton Park, Birmingham.

Representing Oxfordshire, Wheeler finished 190th in the under 13 girls’ race over 3km, clocking 13mins 32secs.

Gould came 256th in the 4.5km under 15 boys’ event, recording 19.48.

Wheeler helped Oxon to 29th in the team competition, while Gould’s side were 38th.

Alchester’s Sam Usher was the second lady home at the Banbury 15.

Usher completed the challenging, hilly 15-mile course in 1hr 46mins 41secs to finish 35th overall and land the vet 35 ladies’ prize.

Dave Kuester won three vet 65 men’s bronze medals in the British Masters Athletic Federation (BMAF) Indoor Championships at Lee Valley, London.

The Bicester athlete’s third places came with distances of 30.71m in the hammer, 8.53m in the shot putt and 11.35m in the weight (heavy hammer).

His next British championship event will be as a vet 70.
