HEYFORD Athletic are celebrating after completing a brilliant Oxfordshire Senior League double triumph.

Two victories in the last week of the season saw them lift the President’s Cup and land the Premier Division championship.

In the Presidents Cup final, Heyford overcame Division 1 side Summertown 2-1, thanks to goals from Steve Roberts and Kieran Chambers.

Their crowning glory came in midweek, when they defeated Freeland 3-0 to land the league title.

Whoever won that top-of the table clash would take the crown – and Heyford did so, thanks to goals from Callum Lloyd, Michael Philpott and Matthew Gardner.

Another Senior League club celebrating a double are Cropredy, whose two sides won the Ben Turner and Ivor Gubbins cup finals at Woodstock Town – their first triumphs for ten years.

Their first team defeated fellow Premier Division side Yarnton 3-1 to lift the Ben Turner Cup.

They sped into a 3-0 lead after an hour, thanks to goals from Chay Buckingham, Dan Watkin and Dan Reeves, who set up the first two.

Yarnton, who had Danny Burrows sent off for a second yellow card, replied late on through Adam Wells’s penalty.

Cropredy Res completed the double with a 2-0 success over Adderbury Park Res in the Gubbins Cup final, after first-half goals from Will Hicks and Tom Daley.

Afterwards, Adderbury chairman James Collier presented the winners with a bottle of champagne.
