JACK Payne is thrilled to have achieved his aim of helping Blackburn Rovers win promotion after switching from Oxford United in January.
The 23-year-old was the U’s best player in the early months of the season, but was recalled by parent club Huddersfield Town during the transfer window.
Payne’s second loan of the campaign has gone well, with last weekend’s trip to Charlton the first time he had finished on the losing side.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “When I got the opportunity to come here it was a real no-brainer for me.
“Blackburn Rovers definitely made an impact on me (in the reverse fixture).
“It’s been an enjoyable season.
“I started at Oxford and then moved to Blackburn with the view of getting promoted and we’ve done that so I’m chuffed to bits and looking forward to the last game of the season.”
A bumper crowd is expected at Ewood Park and Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is wary that it could lift United.
He said: “I have to make sure the players are up for the challenge and I’m sure Oxford will be because the atmosphere will drive a performance from the opposition as well.”
