OXFORD United need to beware a striker head coach Karl Robinson believes is the best in Sky Bet League One this afternoon.

Eoin Doyle has hit 16 goals in 26 appearances for Oldham Athletic in two loan spells from Preston North End.

The Latics would be doomed to relegation already without the Irishman’s goals, the latest of which was the winner on Monday against Blackpool.

Robinson (right), whose side have kept just one clean sheet in 14 games, said: “They have, in my eyes, the best marksman in the league in Eoin Doyle.

“I think if you look at goals per minutes played he’s probably top, so we know they have a goal threat.”

While keeping Doyle quiet is one challenge, the other end of the pitch is a headache for the U’s boss, with strikers Wes Thomas and Jon Obika looking far more dangerous as substitutes recently.

Robinson said: “When people come on they seem to have a bigger impact than when they start.

“That’s a bit of a worry.”

United will name the same 18-man squad for the third game running.

Former U’s striker Craig Davies is fit to return for Oldham, but a calf strain rules out skipper Anthony Gerrard.
