ARDLEY United experienced the highs and the lows this week in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West.

Craig Adey’s side hit the heights with a stunning 10-0 win against basement side Tytherington Rocks.

But four days later, they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at home to mid-table side Headington Amateurs.

The upshot of those results is that Ardley head the table by eight points, with a game in hand on their nearest rivals.

Henry Landers was the star with five goals against visiting Tytherington Rocks, who have lost all 17 games this season.

It was only 3-0 at half-time, with Landers having scored in the ninth, 32nd and 38rth minutes.

But the floodgates opened after the break.

Luca Headford made it 4-0 in the 58th minute, before Landers completed his tally in the 62nd and 67th minutes.

Headford’s second came in the 71st minute, before Alex Feaver scored a rapid brace and Lewis Gabbidon added the final goal three minutes from time.

But Ardley came down to earth with a bump against Headington on Tuesday.

Amateurs led 1-0 at the break, but when Feaver equalised early in the second half, it looked as though Ardley would go on on to record their 15th win in 19 matches.

Instead, they suffered their third defeat when Headington netted a surprise winner.

Ardley will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday, when they visit Cheltenham Saracens.

Bicester Town, the Division 1 East leaders are again without a game.

Todd Parker-Hunt scored a brace of goals as Bletchingdon defeated Kingham All Blacks 2-1 in Division 2 of the Witney & District FA.
