ARDLEY United and Bicester Town had vastly contrasting fortunes in the second round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

While Ardley were thrashing Oxford University Press 8-0, their Uhlsport Hellenic League neighbours crashed 7-2 to higher-ranked Kidlington.

Star of Ardley’s destruction of their Oxfordshire Senior League opponents was Greg Hackett, with four goals.

At half-time, OUP trailed only 2-0 to a brace by Hackett, but the goals flowed after the break.

Troy Bryan scored either side of Hackett’s hat-trick goal to make it 5-0.

Hackett added his fourth, while further strikes from Billy Gillett and Luca Headford completed the rout.

The midweek task facing Bicester was a much tougher one against a Kidlington side, who play in the Evo-Stik South League West Division.

The underdogs started well and led 2-1 midway through the first half thanks to goals from Ricardo Benjamin and Elliott Powell.

But once Kidlington had made it 2-2 at the break, the second half was a one-sided affair, during which they added five more goals.

Bicester went seven points clear in Division 1 East on Tuesday with a 2-0 win at Chinnor.

Robert Johnson put the visitors after seven minutes, but it was not until the fifth minute of injury time that Benjamin sealed the points.

This Saturday, Bicester are away to Virginia Water, while Ardley are without a game in Division 1 West.

l Launton Sports Res continued their great run of form in Division 2 of the Oxfordshire Senior League with a 10-3 rout of visitors Horspath Res.

Nick Neal starred with four goals in the last ten minutes, while their other scores came from Chris Schooling (2), Ben Dyer (2), Danny Bishop and Mark Scanes.
