ARDLEY United’s proud 100 per cent record was ended in shock fashion as they lost 3-0 at home to Clanfield.

Craig Adey’s side went into the match having won all ten matches in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West, having scored 42 goals and conceded only six.

Nobody expected any result other than a home win, especially Clanfield, who had secured just two points from their previous eight games.

In addition, they were without manager Peter Osborne, who was serving a suspension.

But the hosts had no answer to the Clanfield striker Zac Oliver.

After a couple of near-misses he opened the scoring three minutes before the break Clanfield needed goalkeeper Jamie Zoldan on top form after half-time, as the leaders pushed for an equaliser.

Instead, the lead was extended in the 62nd minute, when Oliver collected Conor Tinsley’s pass, before sliding the ball in.

Zoldan saved from Troy Bryan and Lewis Gabbidon before Oliver sealed the shock result of the season by completing his hat-trick.

Elliott Powell starred with all four goals as Division 1 East leaders Bicester Town won 4-1 at Sandhurst Town to stay five points clear.

Powell put the visitors head in the 21st minute with a deflected shot, before they lost Wayne Blossom due to injury.

That did not deter the visitors, with Powell doubling their lead just before the break.

The striker added two more goals in the second half – the second from a penalty – before Jon Malone salvaged some pride for the hosts in the 89th minute.

LAUNTON Sports blew an excellent chance to get their first Oxfordshire Senior League Premier win of the season, when they lost 4-3 away to Oxford University Press.

Playing some free-flowing football, Launton raced into a 2-0 lead with a strike from Paul Davis and a 30-yard screamer from Brad Wyatt.

But just before half-time, some slack defending allowed OUP to pull back a goal with a free header.

It all went wrong for Launton early in the second half when they lost their way.

OUP capitalised scoring three goals to go 4-2 in front.

This seemed to wake up Launton, who piled the pressure on the home defence.

With ten minutes remaining, Luke Phillips stepped up and curled a free-kick into the top corner past the OUP keeper to set up an exciting finish.

It was then all Launton until the final whistle, but they were unable to get the equaliser
