GRAHAM Alexander is expecting a different challenge from Oxford United tomorrow now they are managed by Pep Clotet.

The U’s got the better of the Iron across three meetings last season, drawing 1-1 at Glanford Park before beating them in Sky Bet League One and the Checkatrade Trophy at the Kassam Stadium.

Alexander (pictured) was a former teammate of Michael Appleton during his playing days and believes Clotet has had an impact on the side’s style since taking over.

He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: “The manager will probably change their playing style more than anything else.

“Oxford have started really well with two wins in two games so it will be a really tough match but Oxford are always a decent team to compete against.

“They are competitive and they are never a team that struggles – they are always there or thereabouts.

“We know the quality they have, but we know the quality we have as well and that is the biggest focus for me – to get the best out of my team.

“When we are as close to maximum as we can get, we can cause any team problems and that is the target.”
