SIMON Eastwood was pleased with the way he refocused after making a mistake which cost Oxford United a goal last weekend.

The goalkeeper has been the side’s most consistent performer this season, but fumbled a Louis Dodds shot which saw AJ Leitch-Smith score for Shrewsbury Town.

While it was a save Eastwood would expect to make as a matter of routine, the 27-year-old then made four smart stops to keep United in the game until the last seconds, when the Shrews sealed a 2-0 win.

“I’ve been quite happy with my form but I’m realistic – I’m going to make mistakes because everybody does,” he said.

“It’s just about how you react to those mistakes.

“To get my focus back and do well after the mistake was quite pleasing, it was just disappointing we couldn’t take anything out of the game.”

United host Coventry City tomorrow just over a month after losing 2-1 to Mark Venus’s side at the Ricoh Arena.

At that stage Michael Appleton’s men were 14 places above the Sky Blues, but four games later they are two positions below them after differing fortunes.

Curtis Nelson said: “That’s how football is, it’s amazing how quickly things can change.”
